There are a lot of superstitions out there about how tall a person grows and how to grow taller. Some of these superstitions are just made up stories that in ancient times were told to people in order to pass on the wisdom that they had. In some cultures growing tall meant that you are able to touch the skies and place ancestors that have passed away in the heavens and in some other cultures meant that you can touch the gods themselves. If you are tall you could bring the rain in a drought or have great wisdom. Here are some of the cultures and their beliefs in why people get or are tall. In the times of the gods, being tall meant that you can touch the gods. If you could touch the gods then you could ask them for just about anything you wanted. The bringing of water from the sky or for a good crop to harvest, anything was possible. Being tall back when the Egyptian gods were around meant that you got special privileges and great honor but with all of that honor and responsibility, no one knew how people from their heritage grew so tall. Now if you look into the culture of the Indonesians, the tall people were respected as all knowing and all seeing. They were blessed with a gift of height and respected as people of great importance in their culture. Kings of old were held in the highest honors and respected because they had a height advantage so in this culture, being tall could get you very far in life. Now in other culture being tall could mean you are a freak of nature and could have been put to dead because the townsfolk might have thought that you have been possessed by evil spirits. That is the reason that you are so tall is because the evil spirits that have taken you over are making you tall to take over the world. No matter why you think someone is tall or not is no reason to treat them any different because some people are not blessed with the height like other people are. Every one is different for a reason and there are other things a person can do to grow taller are you are not gifted with height. You can do exercises and eat a well balanced diet in order to get the right nutrients that your body needs to grow taller.

Holidaying with your family in exotic islands or snow-covered Alps could cost you a fortune. And at times, when the global finances are taking a beating, does spending a fortune on holiday travel makes any sense? The experts will tell you that this is not the time to spend lavishly. Expensive leisure should be put off till the time the situation improves. But this doesn’t mean that you defer your holiday plans to the destination of your choice. You can still enjoy your holidays without having to burn your pockets. Here are some useful tips that ensure lesser expenditure on your travel without too much compromise on leisure: Plan your trip in advance. There is no substitute to planning. Whether it is saving money or ensuring organized travel, prior planning goes a long way in ensuring that you are prepared for any eventuality. In terms of money saving, you can ensure cheaper air travel if you book the return tickets in advance. It’s a known fact that all airlines offer discounted airfare if you book the tickets well in advance. Also, return tickets ensure further savings. For this, you first need to decide the dates of travel in advance and then, look for cheaper airline options on the Internet. Scour the Internet for cheap hotel options. The popular holiday destinations usually have multiple hotels, and most of them have an online presence. You can easily compare the room rentals and accordingly settle for the one that offers maximum value for money. Usually, good hotels also offer some add-ons, like free breakfast, free sight seeing, discounted organized tours, etc. Again, Internet can be your best friend if you are planning to shop around at your holiday destination. The shopping centers at popular tourist spots are quite expensive, but a little search on the Internet will make sure that you have a list of cheap shopping destinations before you fly. If you are an avid reader, you can get plenty of other useful tips and advices from leading travel magazines, like Entree, Vacations, Cruise Travel, etc. Subscribing to one of these magazines is an idea worth exploring because you get latest offers and insightful holiday ideas every month, which will help plan for a budget holiday travel to your dream destination. And online subscription is your best bet if you are looking for heavy discounts on these travel magazines.

India is a civilization so ancient and rich that it has attracted travellers, traders and conquerors from time immemorial. India which introduced the occident to silk and spices, presented them with the’zero’ and vedic mathematics, has one of the most ancient texts-the Vedas, given the world one of the largest and perhaps the most peace loving religions – Buddhism, practices Hinduism in majority, is home to millions of Muslims and Christians, is the land of turbaned Sikhs and has offered refuge to Jews, Parsis and many others through the centuries. Politically the region of strategic importance as it lies at the fringe of oil rich nations and the new economic dragons of south east asia.
Geographically, India expanses from sea level to beyond 8000metres. The whole area from the Himalayas upto the Vindhyas is loosely termed as North India. With the snow capped mountains in the north, the fertile Gangetic plains nurtured by the mighty river Ganga, the ravines of river Chambal ,the marble banks of river Narmada, the Thar desert to the west with its unique architecture in sandstone, The breathtaking beauty of the north east with is tribes of indigenous people is spellbinding. Northern India is really mosaic of culture and people. Home to the famous Taj Mahal, a monument in marble symbolizing eternal love, North India has many heritage sites, including the Stupas of Buddhist era, temples cut out of sheer rock faces with meditation chambers(Ajanta & Ellora), the Sun temple designed like a chariot(Konark), Hawa mahal of Jaipur – a multistoreyed palace with filigreed façade from where the womenfolk of the royal family could watch stately processions.

Are you visiting London for the first time? Then you must be searching for the best places to stay in London at the cheapest costs. Here is how you need to go about the London hotel booking systems: (a) The first thing you should know that is London is a very busy city all the year round. There are tourists coming in from far across the world to visit London for various affairs. Hence the hotels in London are busy all around the year, with no bookings for most part of the year. (b) The second thing that you should know is that there are numerous hotels in London situated in various places across the city. You will find the best hotels in London in the heart of the city in Central London. They are the costliest and among the world’s best hotels in terms of luxury, lavishness and comfort. Hence if you are on a good budget, you can have a stay at these hotels, where you will have the time of your life, and be pampered by all the exclusive services that are offered by these hotels like swimming pool, spas and delicious world class cuisines to choose from. Otherwise, if you are on a moderate budget, you can opt for the low expense hotels in London, where you can have good accommodation at moderate costs, and spend the rest of your budget roaming around and seeing places in London. You will not find such hotels in central London, but you can easily find them in places like Dockyards, Ealing and Finchley. Then you can also find the cheapest London hotels in the outskirts of the city, where you will not have to pay even half the money that you would have to pay in a high budget hotel for a good accommodation. As these budget accommodation hotels are situated in the outskirts of the city, you will have one disadvantage during your stay, and that is distance. You will have to travel a lot everyday in order to visit places in the heart of the city. But, as long as you are on a very tight budget, the distance would not matter to you as much. (c) To book for cheap hotels in London, you need not go around searching for the hotels in different places. Now, nearly every hotel in London has its own website, and you can catch up with them, inquire about the number of rooms available with them and also the rent of each room. These hotels also allow you to book your rooms online, so that you will not have to go around searching for the hotels once you are in London. (d) An additional benefit of online London hotel booking of the hotels in London is that many hotels offer you discounts on off-season booking. You can avail such discounts and save further on your budget. (e) You can also run a random search on the online search engines on the internet for cheap hotels in London or budget hotels in London. You are sure to be flooded with numerous options and websites, some of which are especially designed and dedicated to finding you the best London hotels in your budget.

Vacation. It’s a wonderful word and a wonderful thing to be able to do. Of course, like everything else in life, good comes with bad. If you’re looking for cheap Europe airline tickets or cheap flights to anywhere else, join the rest of the general population. Majority of travelers are travelers who are on budgets looking for affordable travel plans. In order to optimize your savings to go back into your bank account or towards your actual vacation, your best bet is to following these five helpful tips to find your best traveling options. 1. Buy EarlyIf you know you’re going to travel during peak seasons (during the summertime), making reservations late in the game can cost you an unnecessarily excess of money. Airline tickets typically go up 21 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 3 days before flying, so make sure you plan ahead. For international traveling, you’ll want to book even earlier, three to six months in advance, for the best deals. 2. Buy LateIf you’re unable to make plans in advance, sometimes buying late has its advantages too. Often you can buy tickets at the very last minute for a great price, if an airline has failed to fill their planes. If you’re a flexible traveler and don’t mind the last minute suspense, waiting until last minute can end up being a great alternative. 3. Shop AroundNever buy the first ticket you find just because the price sounds good, explore your other options first. A great travel agency can help you find great deals with other airlines. If you know of one, stick with them and shop around a little bit before purchasing your airline tickets. 4. Know When to BuyThe most difficult part of booking a flight is when to stop tracking fares and make that once and final purchase. A travel agency can help you with that decision if you start to feel lost in the sea of fares and airline companies. Also keep in mind that most airlines launch fare sales on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. 5. Be FlexibleIf you live close to one airport, don’t rely on that one airport location for departure, expand your departure location to your greater city or town to increase the number of airlines and airfares that show up in your search results. If you are traveling for pleasure and not a specific dated event, be flexible with your traveling dates, this will open up a plethora of more better and cheaper deals for you. Remember, traveling and vacation are wonderful things, don’t let the competitive and aggressive nature of airfare stalking get to the best of you. And most importantly, always remember that there are some great travel agencies out there that can and want to help you.

Climbing the north face of the Eiger has always been a challenge for experienced mountaineers. If you are looking for a similar gut wrenching challenge in Australia, look no further than the South West corner of Australia.
Only it’s not a mountain, it’s a tree. A frightening monster, one of the tallest in Australia with a summit sometimes disappearing into the clouds. Even on a clear day, those on the platform at the top disappear from view.
The rewards and the fears.
If you manage to tame the 75 metre beast and reach the summit, you will be rewarded with some of the finest views in Australia.
The South West corner of Australia spreads before you like a map, from the pristine rain forests below, to the majestic Southern Ocean in the distance.
But you have to climb to the summit first and when you reach the top, the hard part starts. The return journey to the ground can be even more difficult.
Therein lies the challenge. Your open air staircase is 130 thin steel bolts winding around the trunk and the only protection you have from plummeting to the ground, is a thin wire cage.
Only the brave and intrepid reach the summit. Many succumb to fear and the sheer physical challenge. On a windy day, the tree actually sways and on a wet day, the steel rungs are cold and as slippery as ice.
Have I climbed it?
Yes and no. On the first occasion, at the age of 18, I was challenged by my mates and the 3 of us reached the summit to enjoy the amazing views. But when I reached the ground, my legs were like jelly.
On the second occasion, I was on my honeymoon. It was cold and rainy and despite my bride’s protests, started the climb. Then common sense prevailed and I abandoned the attempt, reasoning that I had done it before, so had nothing to prove. As my wife said, “At the age of 30, you’re too old for that sort of stuff”.
Three backpackers in front of me also gave up after climbing a short distance. Sarah, aged 22 from Oxford described it as “Scary beyond belief. ”
Where is this terrifying tree?
The Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree is on the outskirts of Pemberton, an easy 5 hour drive south of Perth. The town was once the centre of the forestry industry, but is now a thriving tourist hub with much to offer the visitor.
The wineries in this district produce cool climate wines and are surrounded by magnificent Jarrah and Karri forests. They are tucked away in the high rainfall region of the lower South West. Pemberton is the coolest wine region in the state. The climate is ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties with a distinct regional flavour.
Accommodation?
The town offers a variety of hotel and motel accommodation as well as a youth hostel just a short distance from the town centre.
Looking for something a little less challenging?
If you are overcome with vertigo at the very thought of climbing this monster and leaving your comfort zone, here is a great alternative.
The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is an award winning tourist attraction in the Nornalup National Park near Walpole, just a short distance from Pemberton. The walk is made of six bridges and you actually walk through the forest canopy. How cool is that?
Footnote.
The prestigious travel Guide Lonely Planet has chosen Australia’s South West as one of the World’s top 10 regions for 2010. It is the only Australian destination to make it into the list.

Many are still looking for a one-stop travel destination where they can get closer to nature, enjoy the sun, soak into the water, do some exercises, try extreme sports, or relax at a world-class hotel. Search no more; for you need not go any farther than Camarines Sur to squeeze all of the above-mentioned activities in one memorable vacation.
Camarines Sur, the largest among the six provinces in Bicol Region, has cemented its place in the list of top travel destinations in the Philippines, thanks to the growing number of people hooked to extreme water sports. The province was not included in most Philippine travel guides until the Camarines Sur Watersports Complex opened its doors to the public in May 2006. Since then, the six-hectare active park, which has facilities for wakeboarding, wakeskating, kneeboarding, and waterskiing, has buoyed the local tourism industry.
Politically subdivided into 35 municipalities and two cities, Camarines Sur is also a haven for beach bummers. One of the famous natural attractions in the province is the beaches of Caramoan, a second-class municipality perfectly made for island hopping. Its fine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters are ideal for kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Other interesting activities popular for tourists are rock climbing, caving, camping, trekking, and mountain biking.
Camarines Sur, which is about eight to ten hours drive from Manila or 45 minutes by plane, is also a magnet for Catholic faithfuls. The province is home to Our Lady of Peñafrancia in Naga City. Come September, religious enthusiasts flock to the city for a religious festival wherein the image of the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia is paraded on a float. Old churches are also a staple fare in the province. Some of them are the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral, Quipayo Church, and Nabua Ladrillo Church.
Like any province in the archipelago, Camarines Sur also has its own share of colorful events and festivals. In San Jose town, local talents and young artists take center stage for the Harana Festival. The February 11-15 event aims to promote cultural awareness through singing and other forms of arts. Other popular occasions in Camarines Sur include Iriga City’s Tinagba Festival, Bato’s Karanowan Festival, Minabalac’s Tumatarok Festival, and Nabua’s Boa-Boahan Festival.
The province, which accounted for 55. 2% of the1. 3 million people who set foot on Bicol last year, has also something to offer to hikers and sightseers. Two potentially active volcanoes- Mt. Isarog and Mt. Iriga – are home to exotic flora and fauna. Along the climb, don’t forget to check out Nabuntulan Falls and Malabsay Falls. Meanwhile, the recommended destinations for spelunkers are Kalupnitan Caves in Ilibmanan and Adiangao Cave in Presentacion.
Tourists can choose from various accommodations ranging from the very simple to the luxurious. As a travel tip, place your reservations in advance to avoid any inconvenience. There are hotels and resorts offering affordable vacation packages for the budget-conscious travelers. The crunchy pili nuts and the spicy Bicol Express are must-tries for first-time and repeat visitors.
Local Philippines is your travel buddy. We have information about the destinations, how to get there, what to do while in the area and more! Destinations in the beaches or in the mountains, destinations under water, destinations right at the middle of the urban hub, name it and Local Philippines will most likely feature it.
